Can you offer any guidance? We have a set of basic questions we ask to help customers decide what they would like.
- What occasion is the cake for?
- Who is it for? Are there any specific elements you would like to include based on the recipient? Do you have a theme/style in mind?
- How many is it to serve? (Don’t forget to add extra portions if you would like some left over!)
- Design- buttercream or fondant covered?
- What date is it required for and when would you like to collect?
With this information, we can help guide you in designing your order so that you are 100% happy. If you would prefer, a casual cake consultation can be arranged at our kitchen subject to availability. What are your prices? Please see our 'Pricing' section, which provides starting prices for the items we offer.

Cakes covered with fondant should be kept in a cool, dry place to prevent the surface becoming sticky and altering any design. We do not recommend refrigerating fondant covered cakes. With each order, we provide information for each particular bake you have purchased with specific storage and best before dates. How do I receive my order? You can collect your order from us at The Leverton Cakery premises in South Leverton. Time of collection will be arranged during the ordering process during our opening hours. We cannot guarantee that this time can then be changed as we may have arranged for other orders being collected/delivered and may not be at our kitchen.Space should be made in a footwell or boot of your car with no obstructions or items that could collide with the cake. We strongly advise cakes are not placed on seats that are slanted or carried on a passengers lap. Please see our 'Cake Care' section for more details. We recommend that we deliver cakes that are 3 tiers and above to ensure that the cake arrives in good condition and in case any elements need to be fixed/altered due to the transporting of the cake, but this is a personal choice and does incur a delivery charge. If any damage has occurred, we will correct this as part of the delivery and set-up fee. We will take photographs of the cake before leaving. We are unable to accept any liability for any damage sustained to the cake thereafter or any failure to follow instructions provided. In the event that any damage occurs after this point, we may be able to arrange repairs but this will incur an additional charge.Collection: If you wish to collect your order from The Leverton Cakery, we will provide you with transport, assembly and storage instructions where required. We will give you a collection time and we will contact you should any changes to the time be necessary. not offer refunds or replacements for orders that have not been collected at the agreed date and time. Once collected, the full responsibility for the safety of the order is with the client and we are not liable for any damages thereafter.
ComplaintsAll cakes require a signature on delivery/collection. This indicates you are happy with the product received. If you are not happy, please ensure you make this known when accepting your cake. This gives us the opportunity to correct any problems. If you have arranged for your wedding planner or venue staff to sign on your behalf, it is then their responsibility to communicate any issues at the time. We are not responsible for mistakes made by the customer or incorrect choice of cake. We always take photographs of the cake prior to delivery/collection and also when the cake is set up at the venue.Complaints are extremely rare. Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible. Cakes, or part of cakes and cupcakes, must be returned to us within 24 hours to ensure we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint. The cake must have been stored at the correct temperature and in the box we supplied, out of the sun and away from damp conditions or heat. If you are complaining for a refund, you must return at least 75% of the uneaten product within 24 hours of collection/delivery.We do not refund customers that have simply changed their mind or if the cake has been damaged out of our care.It can be common for icing to crack as it dries out which is out of our control and why we recommend you consume your cake as soon as it is cut. We do not accept complaints for not liking the taste of our products, mainly because individual’s tastes are different. Please note we can only deal with the customer who originally placed the order.DesignWe are happy for customers to send us pictures in regards to design inspiration, but we cannot copy an exact design by another cake maker unless permission has been granted by the original creator. Products made by The Leverton Cakery are made by hand and accordingly there will be minor variations in appearance. All photos, illustrations and descriptions displayed are for guidance purposes only.If a topper is included in your cake design, this can be delivered to us beforehand or left at the venue to be added on the day. This must be discussed and included in the agreed design of your cake. We do not use decorative elements which cannot be made safe to attach to the cake or that will shed onto the cake.During your consultation, we will discuss options we think are most appropriate for the time of year. If we think it is necessary, we will contact you nearer the time if
we feel your design may benefit from alterations due to predicted weather/temperature to ensure you receive the best quality product. Upon delivery, we will provide guidance regarding the best way to place and store your cake depending on the weather conditions.
Naked, semi-naked and buttercream finish cakes are not as stable as a fully iced fondant cake in hot weather or in a hot venue. The buttercream can soften or melt, which can cause the cake to settle or slide. For this reason, The Leverton Cakery does not offer these during the months of May to September. We can offer ganache covered cakes as a more stable alternative to buttercream.Fresh flowersIf the wedding cake design includes fresh flowers, these are not included in the price of the cake. If a wedding cake is to be dressed with fresh flowers, these are to be provided by your florist and we will arrange the flowers on the cake. We are happy to liaise directly with your florist to confirm details of cake design and the flowers to be supplied. The responsibility for the flowers’ quality, freshness and
colour will rest with the florist and not with The Leverton Cakery. Please note that some flowers and foliage are not suitable for use on a cake as they may be irritants or toxic. We are not liable for any contamination of the cake that may arise from their misuse. We can provide a list of safe and unsafe flowers and foliage to your florist upon request.
These can be delivered to us (unless otherwise agreed) the day before to be fully prepared to be placed on your cake. If not, they should be left at the venue on the day of delivery and set up to be made safe to apply to the cake. Once delivered, we do not take any responsibility for any damage from the flowers or their placement on the cake.AllergensThe Leverton Cakery products contain butter (milk), gluten (wheat) and eggs, and are made in an environment that handles nuts, soya and alcohol. We currently do not offer any free-from or vegan cakes for 2024 orders, we intend to offer vegan and free-from options for 2025 wedding orders.
